The 2nd International Forum of Agronomists was held within the framework of the “Public-Private Partnership” at the “Caspian Agro Week” exhibition.
On May 8, the "II International Forum of Agronomists within the framework of Public-Private Partnership" was held at the Baku Expo Center within the framework of "Caspian Agro 2026" organized by the Agrarian Innovation Center.
 
Minister of Agriculture Majnun Mammadov said that the reforms implemented in the field in recent years, the innovative approaches applied and modern technologies make a significant contribution to increasing the competitiveness of agriculture and ensuring sustainable development: "Public-private partnership is of particular importance in this process. Today's forum is an important platform for further strengthening this cooperation, expanding the exchange of knowledge and experience between the public and private sectors, sharing advanced practices and identifying new opportunities."
 
The Minister emphasized that the agrarian sector in the country is in a stage of rapid development and there is a great need for qualified specialists in this process.
 
The Chairman of the Food Safety Agency, Goshgar Tahmazli, touched upon the issue of public-private partnership in the field of food safety. He noted that the application of international standards in the field of agricultural production and food safety significantly contributes to increasing productivity and reducing losses. At the same time, as a result of the digitalization of export procedures and increasing efficiency, a record volume of 187 thousand tons of dates and 173 thousand tons of tomatoes were exported from Azerbaijan in 2025. In total, agricultural products were sent to 73 countries.
 
Rafail Guliyev, Minister of Agriculture of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, noted that the specific geographical and climatic features of the region necessitate the application of new approaches in the agricultural sector: "It is for this reason that the application of modern irrigation technologies, the development of intensive gardening and greenhouse farms, and the strengthening of local seed production have been identified as priority areas. There are also favorable conditions in Nakhchivan for the development of organic and ecologically clean agriculture."
 
The rector of Azerbaijan State Agricultural University, Zafar Gurbanov, emphasized that the formation of strong human capital is a decisive factor in responding to new challenges. Modern agriculture requires not only traditional, but also innovative thinking, technological knowledge and entrepreneurial skills: "ADAU, by implementing an important mission in this direction, makes significant contributions to the training of professional specialists."
 
Anar Jafarov, Director of the Agrarian Innovation Center, touched upon the importance of the forums, conferences and round tables organized within the framework of the Caspian Agro Week. He noted that such events contribute significantly to the promotion of innovations in the agricultural sector, sharing of best practices, development of cooperation between the public and private sectors and sustainable development of agriculture.
 
Then, an award ceremony was held for farmers who were distinguished for their effective activities in the agricultural sector. The awards served to encourage the activities of farmers who achieved success in various areas of agriculture and increase their motivation.
 
In the panel discussions held within the framework of the forum, topical challenges and development prospects in the areas of agriculture, crop production, floriculture, animal husbandry, fisheries, poultry farming, agro-processing industry and sustainable agriculture were widely discussed.
